We often enjoy looking at models but how often do we consider what they are thinking? While the term “pretty face” definitely applies to model Lindsay Solmer, the prefix “just another” most definitely does not. A conversation with her will convince you that she is well thought out and possesses the kind of mind capable of cracking a sort of modern woman’s career/Sudoku; how else would she connect Reality TV, modeling, social media, and feminism in the same sentence? While Solmer is known for her work at events like New York Fashion Week for Slow and Steady Wins the Race (Outerwear) and as the face of Margaret Joseph’s Collection, it’s a staple of every successful career model to walk the runway; something Lindsay did most recently this May for Melissa Gorga’s Envy Fashion show. Though it’s her job to communicate the sensibilities of the clothing lines and brands she represents, Solmer admits that the person behind this project resonated deeply with her.

Fans of Bravos long running, thrice award nominated hit television series Real Housewives of New Jersey are very familiar with Melissa Gorga and Margaret Joseph. The show dates back to the first decade of the 2000’s and a time when social media and Reality TV were first blossoming. Gorga, Joseph and their fellow cast members shrewdly used these platforms to transform their already successful businesses into empires. As a young woman who finds herself in the midst of great success, Lindsay takes note of the importance of this. She communicates, “I’m sure that a lot of people are under intense public scrutiny these days with social media. Working with women like Margaret and Melissa, I can see that there’s much more to them than public exposure. They are true businesswomen with incredibly successful careers. The show is just one part of their life. The pressure they are under is incredible yet they handle it so well. I’ve personally found myself filming with Margaret or walking the runways for Melissa and letting my mind go to a place where I’m thinking about how I’m judged. While that is common, it’s not very healthy. Being around these women has really helped me to understand and manage the pressure that comes along with a public persona.”

There was more than enough public attention to go around at the Melissa Gorga Envy Fashion show. Due to the star studded cast of Real Housewives of New Jersey, the press took advantage of this fashion event. As the new face of Margaret Joseph’s collection (following her massively successful lifestyle brand Macbeth), Solmer exuded every bit of the self-assuredness and festive mood of the event. As the fit model and Lifestyle model for this latest collection, Lindsay illuminated the runway and the crowd with her poise and beaming smile equal to the bright lights of the stage. If it is Margaret Joseph’s intention to communicate to the world that a new era of the woman has arrived, she has chosen the ideal torch carrier. Solmer reveals, “There’s much more here for me than simply loving the clothes, which I do! I have so much respect for Melissa Gorga as a person and a businesswoman, as I do for Margaret. To see what they have achieved, then have them select me to appear at these prestigious events; it further instills the self-belief that I already have. I think that’s what people sense when I’m on the runway…and I couldn’t be happier that it shows!”
